Timesaver Tip 2: But only riders can apply

I think this is probably my best bike accessory investment ever - I bought it second hand for SGD$150 from my man Ben. Ben is great - he keeps buying the latest and greatest bike toys because he just has to have the coolest gear before everyone else - that's excellent especially when he always re-sells them to me at great second hand prices very shortly after! (Now I just had a thought that he actually deserves a BEN's WHEELER DEALS section! About 80% of my bike is from him - what a guy!) Anyway his excuse for this one was that it was just too boring cycling at home. But I think it's the perfect equipment especially when I have so little free time, not to mention it's perfect for those "secret training" sessions!
Nowadays I usually get on my bike trainer for anywhere between 30min-1hr, keeping my heartrate above 140 beats per min, for a nice cardio session (TO COME: Using heartrate monitors). I was told by some that I am using 50% more effort than while I am riding on the road - yes i do agree as there's no coasting or resting at traffic lights! I even used it when training for the New Zealand ironman earlier this year - and you won't have to get permission from your partner as you are technically still at home!!!!
So when do I use my trainer?
First Choice: Early morning before work: (1) just get it done first thing in the day! (2) Place my bike + trainer in front of the TV and CNBC + Bloomberg TV updates me on US Markets (3) Breakfast also tastes so much better after!
When I have no choice!: After work before dinner. This is much more difficult after a full day's work - key is to grab a late afternoon snack for that energy boost - remember dinner's going to be a hr later. Sometimes I bring my bike to the deck out back to enjoy the peace and green in the garden. However nothing beats getting out there so I still need my sunday morning meditation rides.
My mate Nasser has done some research and think he's picking a new one up for around SGD$300.
Any riders know which bikestore in Singapore stock these and how much they may be?

Hey y'all, almost every bicycle store stocks trainers. Now, the different brands of trainers (eg. CycleOps, Minoura, etc..) that you see in the various shops around Singapore mostly come from the same wholesalers (YES it sounds like a conspiracy, but really, it isn't). The KEY is to figure out your budget {(naturally), whether you want the resistance applied to the tires or the rims, and finally locate your LBS to patronize.
Anyhow, i just helped a mate get a trainer from T3 cycles. Now, the service and family feel of the place makes shopping there extremely pleasant. These guys are really into the whole cycling thing themselves and well whether you are a NOVICE or PRO, they still treat each and everyone with the same enthusiasm.
Well, the trainer i got was the CycleOps Fluid which takes about 5 minutes TOPS to set up and your personal home spinning classes are good to go!
Hope this helps - have a good week ahead!
